My public speaking engagements have ranged from one on one media interviews to plenary participations to an inspirational keynote address. I have been able to communicate my messages clearly and cohesively so that the audience can connect to my story and take away important information.
As a classroom teacher, my oration skills come naturally and my ability to communicate my presentation is organized and interesting. I use a variety of mediums, depending on the audience and the purpose of the presentation. Education is the foundation of success and I believe that my passion for learning gives me the desire to teach pharmacy students about the importance of patient safety, collaboration and community. With that teaching, they can enter into the profession as patient safety experts and deliver high quality care to their patients.
I have spoken to audiences around the country via video conferencing, audio conferencing and live in person. In June 2018, I was invited to the Ontario Pharmacists Association Conference to deliver an inspirational keynote speech. It was my most comprehensive and varied multimedia presentation to date and it was extremely well received by pharmacy professionals. I told our story and how I have been able to turn my grief into advocacy for medication incident recording to be part of a continuous quality improvement program in every pharmacy setting.
